About

“Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard.”

The Professional Stuff

One of the most common questions I get in an interview is, “So what kind of shows do you like to work on?” My answer is usually along the lines of “It’s not about the genre.” The appeal of editing is in the storytelling.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Media Studies from Missouri State University. I got my start in Los Angeles in 2009, cutting casting and sizzle reels, which I now realize was an incredibly valuable way to start my career. I learned efficiency in conveying information, and many tricks of the trade in how to make characters “pop.” (Ugh, I hate that I said that… Sorry)

I’ve worked in a wide variety of programming, from true crime to home makeover to sports. I’ve taken something away from every job I’ve worked on that has enhanced my storytelling to where it is now.

 The Personal Stuff

Yeah this is a website for work stuff, but it’s all connected, right? I grew up in Namibia and South Africa. I learned later in life that it was a pretty weird upbringing. While in high school in South Africa, I met and fell in love with the girl who would later become my wife. After high school, we came to the USA for college… ended up in southwest Missouri (long story)… graduated and moved out to LA.

We now have two children, both of whom are pretty damn cool. My wife, Brittany, is a story producer (although she started off as a high school physics teacher. Yes. She’s the smart one). We live in Burbank.
